Tofino is located in the center of Clayoquot Sound, it is a small village
with approx 1500 residents located 41 km North of Ucluelet.
There are many galleries, boutiques and giftshops that feature First Nations art – a style that has been passed on for thousands of years.
The Meares Island trail, just a short boat ride from Tofino offers a chance to see some of the largest old growth trees in North America.
The ecology of this area is so diverse that Clayoquot Sound was recently designated BC,s first United Nations Biosphere Reserve. Tofino is the gateway to this 350,000 hectare collection of islands, inlets, beaches, mountains, pristine forests, lakes and streams and contains some of the last remaining intact watersheds on Vancouver Island.
The sound hosts a diverse array of wildlife including cougars, black bears, wolves, bald eagles, seals, sealions along with Grey, Orca and Humpback whales.
Located in the North end of Clayoquot Sound is Hot Springs Cove, world renowned for it’s soothing hot pools by the ocean, only accessible by boat or float plane.
